Creating a Marine Team (K-6) - This lesson allows students to experience a hands-on opportunity to interact with and feel a sense of responsibility for the well-being of animals in students’ local environment. It also connects to their general knowledge and builds deeper awareness of their local environment.

Being a Scientific Observer (Gr. 3-5) - Students will observe and record the locations of animals and plants in the Seaquarium with the goal of determining what facts are, recording factual observations, and introducing the students to the animals in the Seaquarium.

Community Mapping (Gr. 4-5) - This activity was done at Vic West Elementary School in Victoria, B.C. in 2002. It was a hugely successful project that allowed everyone to see how powerful it can be when students are learning about things that are directly relevant to them.

Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Gr. 5) - The objective is to understand the individual rights and freedoms of Canadians in terms of equality and fairness by considering how to address the corresponding needs of individual inhabitants of the Seaquarium.

Diversity and Classificiation (Gr. 5-8) - Students will use careful observations to understand the diversity of living organisms, produce an accurate scientific drawing based on the students’ own observations, and will produce a classification key for the animals they have observed.

Emerging Scientists on the Shore (Gr. 3-10) - This is a research study at a local shoreline where the participants test their hypotheses by observing and collecting data about different part of the intertidal zone. Students will be able to explore the adaptations of creatures in life in the intertidal zone and will use previous knowledge to develop and test a hypothesis using scientific techniques.

Plant Adaptations to Life on the Shore (K-12) - This lesson plan could supplement a field trip down to the beach where students can learn about the various species of plants that inhabit certain parts of the beach environment.
