Joachim Carolsfeld, Ph.D.

Dr. Carolsfeld, originally from a small coastal town in BC, Canada, obtained his PhD working with fish pheromones and reproduction, a Masters in invertebrate neurophysiology and an Honours in marine biology, with intervening periods of working with fisheries, aquaculture, environmental surveys, boat mechanics, and SCUBA instruction. For the last decade, he has devoted his time to blending his diverse technical expertise with social sciences to design and implement multidisciplinary and multistakeholder projects that foster environmental conservation blended with equitable sustainable resource-based livelihoods. He has been Executive Director at WFT since mid-2006.

Alison Macnaughton, M.A.

Alison obtained a Geography degree in her home town at the University of Victoria, BC, before completing her Masters in Community and Regional Planning at UBC - defending a thesis on watershed management in Santo André, Brazil. She helped design and manage WFT's Inland Fisheries project in Brazil beginning in 2003, focusing on the development of multi-stakeholder resource management and community-based economic development.

Lindsay moved to Victoria after obtaining a degree in Psychology and Sociology at Queen's Univeristy in 2003. She has been working for grassroots non-profit organizations ever since. Lindsay is the Office Manager, assists with projects and all other aspects of World Fisheries Trust operations.

Tiffanie Rainville , MES, B.Sc.H.

Tiffanie Rainville, from Ottawa, ON, completed her B.Sc.H in Biology and Health at Queen's (2005). Her Masters of Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University (2010) brought her to two small coastal areas in Ecuador where she looked at impacts and perceptions of climate change in mangrove ecosystems and surrounding communities. She is currently working on the Bolivian project- Peces para la Vida focused on fisheries and food security in the Amazon region.

Mary is originally from the Cowichan Valley, BC, and moved to Victoria to complete a B.Sc in biology and environmental studies at the University of Victoria. She became involved with the World Fisheries Trust initiative “Seaquaria in Schools” in 2010 as an education coordinator. She is currently focused on evaluating and developing ongoing local projects including: The Gorge Waterway Nature House, Seaquaria in Schools, and community outreach events.
